Lily, a young U.S. reporter, gets caught in the crossfire in Iraq when ISIS suddenly invades the country. During her escape, she encounters other refugees, Arab families and children, as well as former U.S. soldiers and Kurdish freedom fighters.

As in her previous films "Sun" and "Moon", Kurdwin Ayub explores in * the relationships between East and West, which are constantly shifting in terms of power dynamics. The film deals with identities and stereotypes, migration and flight, and the question of who is ultimately allowed to leave and who must stay behind.
